League Rules
These rules govern all Vipers Elite Basketball League games for the 2025 season and are fully aligned with Ohio youth basketball standards. Designed for clarity, fairness, and player development, they apply to both the 3rd - 4th Grade Division and the 5th - 6th Grade Division unless otherwise stated.
Game Structure:

Game Length: Two (2) halves of twelve (14) minutes each, running clock except for final two minutes of each half and all free throws.

Halftime Duration: Four (4) minutes

Warm-Up Period: Five (5) minutes prior to tip-off
Free Throws & Lane Play:

Lane Entry: Players may enter the lane upon the release of the ball.

Foul Line: Standard regulation foul line will be used for both divisions.

Bonus: Begins on the 8th team foul of the half (one-on-one). Double bonus begins on the 11th team foul (two shots).
Backcourt & Ball Advancement

Backcourt Rule: Ten-second backcourt rule will be enforced in all divisions.

Three-Point Line: In effect for all grades.
Timeouts:

Regulation: Each team receives three (3) timeouts per game, each lasting thirty (30) seconds. Timeouts do not carry into overtime.

Overtime: Each overtime period grants (1) timeout per team.
Overtime Format:

First Overtime: Two (2) minutes.

Second Overtime: Two (2) minutes. First team to score wins ("sudden victory").
Fouls & Conduct Enforcement:
-
Personal Fouls: Five (5) per player; disqualification on the fifth.

Technical Fouls - Coaches:
-
First Technical: Coach must remain seated and may not coach verbally. ​

Second Technical: Coach is ejected and automatically suspended for the next game.

Fighting:

Any player who engages in fighting is ejected immediately and suspended for the next scheduled game. ​

Pressing Rules:

Pressing is prohibited when a team leads by fifteen (15) points or more. Teams must fall back to half-court defense until the lead is under fifteen.
Player Eligibility:

3rd/4th Grade Division: Players may not be older than eleven (11) years old on or before the first day of the season.

5th/6th Grade Division: Players may not be older than thirteen (13) years old on or before the first day of the season.

Only two coaches on the bench​

12 team roster, final roster must be turned in by beginning of second games. No players can be added after that date.

These rules are established to ensure fairness, competitive integrity, and a development-focused environment for all athletes. Coaches are responsible for understanding and enforcing all regulations throughout the season.
